Plasma Treatment of HDPE using piezobrush® PZ3

Jun 12, 2020

With annual production of about 100 million tons of polyethylene, High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) has one of the highest applications worldwide due to its unique property of easy thermal deformation and high mechanical and chemical stability.

HDPE has a relatively low surface energy of 36mN/m which is known as a weakness in bonding and printing. However, applying a quick plasma treatment by piezobrush® PZ3 is revealed to significantly enhance the surface energy to 72mN/m with the activated area increasing by 20-25%.
